Being able to discover and understand more about music beyond written scores both aurally and visually, can benefit anyone, even for someone who is simply aspiring to pick up an instrument as a hobby. By introducing rhythms and movement first, prior to music notation and theory, students (especially children) develop their musicality faster as they are able to ‘release’ their energy as well as ‘feel’ the music.
As touched on above, not every person is suitable for one kind of music as everyone has different tastes and abilities. Many are not aware that there are several other examination boards that cater to other genres of music such as Jazz/Pop/Rock/ Latin/Blues etc. A few examples of these alternative examination boards are ANZCA (Australian New Zealand Cultural Arts) and TCL (Trinity College London).
This is where “Music. For Life” comes in to provide these ‘non-mainstream’ options and guidance.
